No fewer than 324 students participate in Qur’anic recitation competition in Jigawa

quranNo fewer than 324 students are currently participating in the 30th Qur’anic Recitation Competition organised by Jigawa State Ministry of Education.

The state’s Commissioner for Education, Hajiya Rabi Hussaini, disclosed this at the opening of the competition on Tuesday in Dutse.

Hussaini said 12 students were drawn from each of the 27 local government areas of the state.

She explained that the participants were selected after emerging winners at various categories in similar competition organised at the local government level.

The commissioner said the participants, comprising males and females, would compete in seven different categories.

According to her, N9 million is earmarked by the state government for the competition.

She, therefore, urged the participants to perform well, as prizes would be given to winners.

She added that the winners would also represent the state at the National Qur’anic Recitation Competition in 2016.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the competition would be held at the Jigawa State Polytechnic, Dutse, from Dec. 1 to Dec. 8, 2015.
