Youths, particularly students of higher institutions in Nigeria, have been urged to shun cyber crimes, ponzi schemes, hard drugs, prostitution, examination malpractices and other vices.

Youths, particularly students of higher institutions in Nigeria, have been urged to shun cyber crimes, ponzi schemes, hard drugs, prostitution, examination malpractices and other vices.

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) made the call at a one-day security sensitisation programme against drug abuse, irregular migration, human trafficking and cybercrimes, held at Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Oerri, yesterday.

Speaking, NOA National Director-General, Dr. Garba Abari, represented by the Imo State Director, Nazzy Njoku, said: “Students of higher institutions and youths are gradually taking the centre stage as perpetrators of crimes in the country.”

Njoku blamed the menace on the uncensored contents of social media, which, according to him, negatively influence students into taking to crimes,” which expose them to death, servitude, prostitution, ritual murder and organ harvest.”

ccording to him, the essence of the programme tagged, ‘Campus Focus,’ organised by NOA in collaboration with the International Organisation for Immigration (IOM), was “to engage the youths to deconstruct and fault these depraved forces disposing them to step out of lines in cherished values and act towards perdition.”
