Prelate Emeritus of Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr. Sunday Ola Makinde, yesterday, said that Nigerians are now more politically wise compared to the past. According to him, if any politician did not perform, he or she will not be re-elected.

Makinde, who stated this at a special birthday thanksgiving service for the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja, thanked and praised God for making Tinubu to see another birthday and getting elected as Nigeria’s president.

The former Prelate urged Lagosians to continue to pray fervently for the president-elect to have wisdom to rule the country aright as well as prevailing over his enemies. He implored all his aides and supporters to give him undiluted loyalty and support.

He, however, urged the president-elect to work on uniting the country, provide social amenities and appoint professionals among the best hands devoid of ethnicity, religious and party affiliations.

The cleric, who commended those who organised the thanksgiving, was optimistic that with Tinubu’s antecedents in public and private life, he would do better as president

He added that the emergence of Tinubu was for a purpose, which is to rebuild Nigeria like he rebuilt Lagos.

Meanwhile, Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde, praised God for Tinubu’s life and also prayed that the visionary leader would be strengthened to bring about development and programmes that would uplift the people.

“On behalf of my family and the good people of Lagos State, I rejoice with our leader and wish him many more years on earth.”

Sanwo-Olu, who said Tinubu is a pride to Lagos and global icon, prayed that God grant him wisdom and all that he requires for the programme and policies that will uplift the country.

The special thanksgiving service was attended by officials from the private and public sectors, cabinet members, party faithful, as well as religious leaders in Nigeria, including Lagos State Christian Association of Nigeria’s (CAN) Chairman, Bishop Stephen Adegbite.
