The All Progressives Congress (APC) women in North-West Zone have demanded a non-negotiable 35 per cent of appointments as President Muhammadu Buhari plans to form a new cabinet after May 29.

The APC Women Leader in the zone, Hajiya Yahanasu Buba Ahmed, said this while fielding questions from journalists yesterday in Kaduna.

Ahmed, who spoke during the Zonal Women/Youth Leader North-West Town Hall meeting meant to appreciate the contributions of youths, women and all stakeholders of the zone towards the success of the 2019 general elections at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Hall, Murtala Square, said the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, had earlier promised them at a meeting in Lagos that female politicians would benefit more in terms of appointments.

According to her, “we are appealing to her that we get at least 35 per cent appointment for ministers and boards as she promised us at a meeting held in Lagos recently.”

Ahmed stressed that government does not have to restrict its search for credible female candidates to graduates alone, as several women with school certificate are seasoned politicians and can deliver if given a chance.

“It doesn’t have to be graduates, even school certificate holders could be appointed,” she said.
