NSCDC holds 20 suspects over illegal bunkering

NSCDCThe Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has arrested 20 suspects for pipeline vandalism, illegal refineries and other related offences. 

The State Commandant of the corps, Adeyinka Fasiu, who addressed newsmen in Akure yesterday said, “In furtherance of the execution of the cardinal mandate of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Ondo State Command Anti-Vandal unit in recent times arrested a total of twenty suspected vandals, destroyed ten illegal refineries and impounded twenty-two trucks loaded with adulterated petroleum products.”

He disclosed that some of the arrested persons were picked up from the riverine and oil producing area of the state.

“In addition, 10 pumping machines, 3 speed boat engines, 330 metres of BEDC cables, and 16 prepaid metres were seized from vandals. The suspects have all been charged to court for prosecution”, he said

The NSCDC boss said the command is committed to eradicating illegal bunkering and other forms of criminality. affirming that the corps will continue to wage war against saboteurs of the country’s economy.

He urged the people of the state to cooperate with security agencies by giving useful and timely information which will help to free the state from pipeline vandalism and other related crimes.
