Oba Otudeko strengthens higher education with delivery of administrative building at OOU

The Oba Otudeko Administrative Building

The Oba Otudeko Foundation, through the Honeywell Group’s social impact vehicle, has strengthened institutional capacity at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) with the delivery of a 2,400-square-metre ultramodern administrative complex at the University’s main campus in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.

Now fully operational, the facility houses key administrative units, improving coordination, operational efficiency, and service delivery across the institution.

The new complex forms part of a broader portfolio of education-focused investments championed by Dr. Oba Otudeko who is the Chairman of Honeywell Group, whose longstanding commitment to human capital development continues to advance institutional capacity across Nigeria. These include the Honeywell Auditorium at Lagos Business School, West Africa’s first AACSB-accredited business school among other initiatives that support learning environments designed to foster excellence, leadership, and innovation.

The OOU project addresses the pressing need for adequate institutional infrastructure within Nigeria’s higher education system, where universities face growing demand for quality learning environments amid capacity constraints. By strengthening the administrative backbone of OOU, the Foundation is supporting the systems that enable effective governance, improved student services, and enhanced academic outcomes.

Speaking on the significance of the project, spokesperson of the Foundation, Yewande Giwa, noted that the intervention reflects a deliberate commitment to building resilient institutions as a pathway to national development.

“The Oba Otudeko Foundation recognises that true educational excellence depends on the strength of the systems and structures that support teaching, learning, and research. This administrative building reflects our belief that a great university is powered not only by its academic output, but also by the quality of its governance, coordination, and student-facing services.”

“By reinforcing the institutional framework that enables innovation and effective learning, we are advancing our pillars of education and entrepreneurship, and strengthening systems that will continue to shape future leaders, build resilient enterprises, and drive sustainable progress for years to come.”

“Beyond infrastructure, Honeywell Group continues to advance human capital development through initiatives such as the Honeywell Excellence Programme, which equips fresh graduates with practical business and leadership capabilities.

Through focused interventions in education and enterprise development, the Oba Otudeko Foundation remains committed to creating long-term impact by strengthening institutions, expanding opportunity, and empowering future generations to contribute meaningfully to national development.”

In his remarks, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the OOU Governing Council, Prof. Toyin Ashiru, described the project as a landmark contribution to the university’s continued growth and transformation.

“The Oba Otudeko Administrative Building stands as both a functional and symbolic milestone in our institutional journey. It directly addresses one of our most pressing challenges – the shortage of adequate office space – while enhancing operational efficiency, staff productivity, and service delivery to our students and stakeholders. Dr. Oba Otudeko’s longstanding commitment to education continues to create meaningful impact, reinforcing a legacy that has supported the progress of this University for decades.”
