Obasanjo visits Makinde over Olubadan, Soun’s passing
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday, paid a condolence visit to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State over the demise of two first-class monarchs in the state.
The Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Ajagungbade, died on December 12, 2021, while the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, died on January 2, 2022.
Oyo State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Rauf Olaniyan, received Dr. Obasanjo, on behalf of the governor, at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Ibadan.
The former President explained that he was in the state on a condolence visit over the death of the two traditional rulers, adding that he had visited the palaces of the deceased in Ogbomoso and Ibadan.
He said the visit to the Governor’s Office was to condole the governor, his government and the entire people of Oyo.
Olaniyan, who thanked the former President for the visit, described him as an international figure blessed with wisdom and knowledge.
According to him, Obasanjo is a leader who has an interest in the people at heart.
He prayed God to give the retired General long life in good health, for well-meaning Nigerians to continue drawing from his “pool of wisdom”.
A former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Layiwola Olakojo, and Obasanjo’s political associate, Otunba Oyewole Fasawe, accompanied the ex-President on the visit.
