Obaseki to meet NSA over security in Edo
Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki yesterday said he would meet with the National Security Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd) on the disturbing security situation in Edo State.
He stated this while fielding questions from reporters at Government House where he assured that his administration has put in place to check the violent crimes in parts of the state.
Obaseki also disclosed that the Nigerian Army has deployed its personnel to areas where these violent crimes have been committed and other flashpoints in the state capital.
He said the meeting with the National Security Adviser would provide the opportunity for him to discuss areas of security collaboration, and raise the bar in intelligence gathering and proactive surveillance in the state.
The governor urged residents to go about their normal businesses without panic, and promised that adequate arrangements have been made to effectively tackle the recent upsurge in security challenges in the state.
“We have useful information about those who we suspect, were involved in the incidents in last few weeks. I want to assure Edo people that normalcy has been restored and there would be no reoccurrence of such incident again,” he said.
