Obembe, wife become first Pentecostal Charismatic cardinal, archbishop

THE International Communion of Charismatic and Apostolic Ministers (ICCAM), an international Fellowship of Anointed Charismatic Ministers, has proclaimed the former Chairman of Lagos State Chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and Presiding Bishop of El-Shaddai Bible Church, Ikoyi, Lagos, Bishop Olanrewaju Obembe and his wife, Rev. (Dr.) Oluremi Obembe, as Charismatic Cardinal/Archbishop and Bishop respectively.

A letter signed by the Apostolic Presbyter, Bishop (Dr.) Taiwo Akinola and Ministerial President, Bishop Dr. Anietie Etukudoh, read in part: “After serving in the office of a Charismatic Bishop for over 20 years, the International Communion of Charismatic and Apostolic Ministers (ICCAM) has elevated Bishop Olanrewaju Obembe into the Ecclesiastical office of Charismatic Cardinal and Archbishop.

“By this Ecclesiastical elevation, Bishop Obembe becomes the first Nigerian clergy to occupy this high profile ecclesiastical responsibility of a Charismatic Cardinal and Archbishop under the auspices of ICCAM.

Acknowledging the honour done to him, the newly-consecrated Charismatic Cardinal Obembe said: “I dedicate this new office to the Lord Jesus, the first begotten of the father and the first resurrection, unto him, I dedicate this office, that with the help of God I will serve God and humanity much more than I have served so that the kingdom of God through this office will be expanded.”
