Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has canvassed for judicious use of public funds among politicians.

Obi, also emphasised the need for politicians to forge a common front in bettering the lot of Nigerians, urging Nigerians to always pray for politicians to do the right thing with funds meant for the public.

The former presidential candidate stated this at Ubima in Ikwerre Council of Rivers State at the weekend, during the burial of the mother of ex-governor of the state, Celestine Omehia, where he joined other dignitaries to pay his tributes.

He said: “It is important that we work together for the people. We must care for the people. I condole this family and I will continue to urge our brother Celestine that we must continue to work together to care for the people. Let me humbly request that all of you pray for us the politicians.

“Your prayer point should always be let God touch our hearts to use public money for public good.”

The chief mourner, Omehia, expressed his appreciation for the presence of everyone who stood with his family in their lowest moment following the demise of their matriarch.
