FORMER Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, has commended the incumbent Chief Willie Obianfor providing 25 state-of-the-art patrol vehicles to the Police in the state. The state government had said the gesture was to enable the Force continue the fight against crime.

Obi’s media aide, Valentine Obienyem, in a statement he sent to The Guardian last night, said his principal spoke shortly after being by journalists at the local wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, yesterday.

Obi said he was happy that Anambra State Government had continued his tradition of working with recognised security agencies by offering all sorts of support to them.

He was also full of praises for the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon  Arase, for his commitment to security in Nigeria and his particular interest in Anambra State.

“Recall that when I took over, Anambra was working with all manner of security people, our government insisted that we must work with only recognised security agencies. We therefore  commenced aggressive support for security agencies.

“We went further to provide, at least, one patrol vehicle to all the towns in the state.  It is gratifying that my successor has continued on the same note, including demolishing the houses of kidnappers in the state.
