Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra has assured that he will fulfill his campaign promise by completing all projects he inherited from Mr Peter Obi,his predecessor.

Obiano gave the assurance at the inauguration of Awkuzu-Igbariam-Achalla Road in the state on Thursday.

He restated that his administration would not waver on continuity which he promised during his gubernatorial campaign.

“This project was started by my predecessor and I completed it. That is consistent with my four “Cs’’ – to continue, complete, commission, which I promised when I was campaigning for election.

“To continue, complete, commission all projects originated by my predecessor and commence another set of projects that will change the state,’’ he said.

According to him, the commissioning of roads was a major component of the continuity promise.

“I want to put it on record that there is no single project left behind by my predecessor that I have abandoned, not one,” Obiano said.

He urged the communities which the road would serve to strive to preserve it.

The governor said the road had collapsed twice in the past, and blamed it on indiscriminate dumping of garbage in the drainage as well as burning of tyres on it during festivities.

“During the last student demonstration, tyres were burnt on the road. I hope that will not happen again.

“This road cost so much money. I urge you to help protect this road and other government property,’’ he said.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Works, Chief Law Chinwuba, commended the governor for fulfilling his promise of continuity.

Chinwuba said that the contractor, who handled the Awkuzu-Igbariam-Achalla Road, was recalled to reconstruct the collapse portion of the road which was about 4.5 kilometres.

Gov, Obiano well done, you are a very sensible governor. May God bless you, please make sure contractors do quality roads that last long like roads constructed by Julius Berger PLC. God bless Nigeria

improper construction of the road is what is making it collapse. a well made road, doesn’t collapse because you burnt tired on it. you have to drain the water properly and nigeria need to stop doing open drainage for a lot of reason. drainage should be underground which would prevent it from being blocked.
