Oborevwori, Omo Agege, others congratulate Muslims, seek prayers for nation

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, yesterday, felicitated Muslims as they celebrated Eid-el-Kabir, urging them to imbibe the ideals of sacrifice exemplified by Holy Prophet Mohammed.

In a Sallah message by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, in Asaba, the governor said that Eid-el-Kabir is a season of love, peace, togetherness and sacrifice. He urged Nigerians to embrace peaceful co-existence, show love and care to one another irrespective of religion and tribe.

Oborevwori called on Muslims and, indeed, Nigerians to continue praying for peace and progress of the nation. Former Deputy President of the Senate and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, urged Muslims to continue working for unity of the country to overcome current economic challenges.

In his message to commemorate the Muslim festival of Eid el-Kabir, he noted that in an atmosphere of crucial decisions, which need to be taken by the government, only in unity would Nigeria grow.

In a statement by his media aide, Sunny Areh, the former Deputy Senate President urged Muslims to keep promoting the spirit of brotherhood and peaceful co-existence, supported with prayers for the nation’s leaders.

He said: “At a time like this, when our country is facing serious economic challenges, we need a united country and support for leaders for Nigeria to overcome.”

Chief Imam of Federal College Asaba, Dr. Adekola Yinusa, also expressed hope that God will continue to strengthen President Bola Tinubu to sanitise the country.

He urged the President to formulate policies and programmes that would bring rapid socio-economic development of the country.

The cleric tasked government at all levels to govern with the fear of God, and show absolute loyalty to Him at all times for the betterment of the people.

The Sarki, Hausa of Asaba, Alhaji Ibrahim Babagero, advised Tinubu to tackle insecurity once and for all to restore peace in the country.

Babagero reminded Nigeria leaders that they should apply wisdom in affairs of the nation, considering they would have to give account of their stewardship before God.
