
He made the appeal during an online broadcast on Ash Wednesday, March 5, 2025, which signals the beginning of the 40-day fasting period of Christians, also known as the Lenten season.
Odedeji, who noted that the theme of the diocese for the year is ‘Be a beacon of light,’ emphasised that Jesus has called believers to shine their light so the whole world will see it.
He said that Jesus’ expectation for his followers is for them to shine in dark places of the world light, which is characterised by darkness.
The Bishop, therefore, urged Christians to go and bear fruits as Jesus Christ commissioned all believers to do so, assuring them that their fruits shall abide.
RELATEDLY, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of Motailatu Church of God (MCG), Gabriel F. Akinadewo, has urged Nigerians to seek the face of God, turn from their wicked ways and ask for forgiveness as well as “for the Creator to heal the country completely.”
He gave the advice, yesterday, during an anointing service to celebrate the beginning of Ash Wednesday.
Akinadewo, who spoke at the Restoration Parish of the Church in Akute, Ogun State, declared that Nigerians must urgently seek the face of God to eradicate the socio-political, economic and security challenges in the country.
He said: “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts, and let him return unto the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.”
