The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) has insisted of going ahead with the council polls scheduled for April 23, 2016

The chairman of the commission, Prof Olugbenga Ige who released the guidelines for the election at a meeting with political parties participating in the election, hoped that the guidelines would be adhered strictly to by the parties to ensure a smooth election in the state

However, the main opposition party, All Progressive Congress (APC) has opted out of the election.
