The Lagos State Government will on Tuesday, August 19, begin the second phase of rehabilitation works on the Ogudu–Ifako Bridge in Kosofe Local Government Area, following the completion of the first phase.
The repair, which focuses on the expansion joints on the bridge inbound Lagos Island, is expected to last until October 1, 2025.
In a statement on Sunday, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said traffic will be narrowed to a single lane about 50 metres before and after the construction zone.
General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, explained that motorists heading to Oshodi should use the Ojota Slip Road to connect Ikorodu Road inbound Anthony. Those bound for Victoria Island may take Ojota Slip Road through Ikorodu Road, link Town Planning Way to Gbagada, and access the Third Mainland Bridge. Another option is via Ikorodu Road to Funsho Williams Avenue and onward to Eko Bridge.
Motorists coming from Ikeja and its environs can use Maryland to link Ikorodu Road/Funsho Williams Avenue and then Eko Bridge, or alternatively connect to Oshodi via Ikorodu Road inbound Anthony.
Bakare-Oki said LASTMA officers have been deployed to ensure free flow of traffic, enforce discipline, and respond to emergencies. He added that towing vehicles and support infrastructure have been stationed along diversion routes.
He appealed for motorists’ cooperation, warning against disobedience of traffic rules, especially driving against traffic, which he said would attract immediate prosecution before the Lagos State Mobile Court.
