• Producers deny plan to increase price

Ogun State government has commenced a ‘renew and reuse’ waste agenda with a call on residents of the state to give to the needy in line with social inclusion of the Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration.

Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, who disclosed this in Abeokuta, said that the renew and reuse waste agenda would give residents of the state the opportunity to donate items, such as undersized or outgrown clothes, shoes, discarded fabrics, toys, household items, books and publications to those that need them.

This, he said, would be achieved through several collection boxes placed at government offices, prominent eateries, stores, outlets and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) offices spread across the state.

MEANWHILE, producers of packaged water in the state have assured consumers of safety of their products, dismissing insinuation in some quarters that the recent outbreak of cholera in the state was caused by unhygienic sachet water.

Acting Chairman of Egba Zone of the Table Water and Beverages Producers Association of Nigeria, Iyiola Komolafe, gave the assurance, yesterday, during a three-day sensitisation walk against Cholera with other members across major areas in the city and as well as to further educate the public on causes and prevention of cholera.

Komolafe expressed the commitment of the association in ensuring that only safe and clean water is being produced for consumers without increasing the cost of production or price of a bag or bottle of water in the market.
