Ogun partners APM Terminals on dry, deep seaports
In a major step towards transforming Ogun State into a logistics and trade hub, the Ministry of Transportation has presented two master plan layouts for the development of Dry and Deepsea ports to APM Terminals Management.
The Commissioner in the Ministry, Olugbenga Dairo, during the presentation in Abeokuta, unveiled the government’s plans to integrate railway routes and other transportation networks for seamless movement of goods and services.
“The project is also set to feature manufacturing zones and processing facilities to support agricultural exports and reduce the losses of farm products, positioning the state as a prime destination for trade and industry,” he said.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Projects and Technical Matters, Seyi Ogunseye, highlighted the state’s investor-friendly environment, urging stakeholders to leverage the opportunities created by the project.
He added that the groundwork was laid for robust infrastructure and a dynamic trade ecosystem, adding that the state would revolutionise its transportation and export sectors, inviting global investors to be part of the transformative journey.
In his response, the Chief Executive Officer of APM Terminals, Frederik Klinke, commended the state government for its proactive approach, signalling readiness to collaborate, once plans are finalised.
“This initiative opens new opportunities for investment and economic growth in Nigeria,” he said.
Also present at the meeting were the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Adesoji Adewuyi, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Sakiru Salaam, and the Product Manager, APM Terminals Nigeria, Nkematiah Nkeanglefack, among other officials.
