Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) has commended Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State for making the 2022 edition of the World Teachers Day a memorable day to cherish by members of the union.

Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) has commended Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State for making the 2022 edition of the World Teachers Day a memorable day to cherish by members of the union.

ASUSS conveyed this commendation in a letter dated October 7 and signed by its chairman, Akeem Lasisi.

The union expressed its delight in the roles played by the Governor Abiodun-led administration in the build-up to the teachers day held at the MKO Abiola Int’l Stadium, Abeokuta.

It specifically commended the governor for his physical presence at the event, the promises made by him and especially the gift of a brand new official bus to the ASUSS.

ASUSS, however, assured of its members’ continued support, loyalty and commitment to the success of the incumbent administration in the state.

The letter reads in part: “Your Excellency, as you have displayed integrity, honesty and uncommon sense of responsibility, especially as embodied in the gift of an official bus for our Union, you can rest assured that we will also reciprocate this unprecedented gesture when the time is ripe because kindness begets kindness.

“It is against this note of reassurance of mutually beneficial relationships that we wish to convey the gratitude of the entire secondary schools teachers on our platform to Your Excellency and members of your government for your presence, promises and indeed, the gift.”

Abiodun advocates self-help projects as catalyst for community, state development

Meanwhile, Governor Abiodun has hinted that the state would experience more development if communities embark on self-help projects.

Abiodun dropped the hint at the 45th Anniversary of Isanbi Day celebration held yesterday at Isanbi High School, Ilisan-Remo, Ikenne Local Council Area.

Speaking further at the event with the theme, “Repositioning Ilisan for Economic Gains,” the governor noted that the development of the state is a responsibility of everyone, as no government can do it alone.

“Let me reiterate that through transparent public finance management, which provides an atmosphere that guarantees a more prosperous life for our people, we shall continue to uphold all the tenets of good governance by being accountable, transparent, responsive, consensus oriented, inclusive, participatory, just, fair and equitable,” he said.

The governor, however, stated that this year’s edition of Isanbi Day was important as it would precede the landing and take-off of the first aircraft in the town where the first international Agro Cargo Airport is being built, adding that the town would be a beehive of activities because of a well-planned aerotropolis.

He assured of prompt completion of the Ilishan-Ago-Iwoye road in the next couple of months, saying “the road not only runs through and links three local councils of Ijebu North, Ikenne and Odogbolu, but leads to the Agro-Cargo Airport; the Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ago Iwoye; and the link road to the Southeast and other arterial roads that link Lagos and the hinterland of the country.”
