The Chidi Ibeh faction of the apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, and the Chairman, Senate Committee on Privatisation, Dr. Orji Kalu, yesterday, pleaded with Nigerians to be patient with the administration of President Bola Tinubu, adding that his one year in office has been better than eight years of the last administration.
In a statement in Abakaliki, the Secretary General of the Ohanaeze faction, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, noted that despite inherited challenges, such as a retrogressive economy, treasury looting and infrastructural decay, Tinubu has demonstrated the political will to overcome these obstacles more effectively, pleading with Nigerians to have patience and faith in him.
He noted that the South East has benefited a lot from Tinubu’s government, noting that his administration has fostered hope and progress in the region through initiatives like the ongoing road reconstruction and rehabilitation projects led by the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, which are fostering economic activities and inclusivity.
The statement reads: “The first year of President Bola Tinubu’s administration has been heralded as a period of progress and development. Despite inherited challenges, such as a retrogressive economy, treasury looting and infrastructural decay, the President has demonstrated the political will to overcome these obstacles more effectively than in the previous eight years under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
On his part, the former governor, Kalu, who noted that the Tinubu administration is implementing pragmatic and sustainable reforms for the ultimate development of the country, added that the citizenry and the government at all levels must complement each other. Kalu stated this, yesterday, during the first anniversary of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government under Tinubu.
The Senator, who appealed to leaders at all levels of government to engage their constituents before, during and after elections, urged politicians to play the game by the rules.
He said: “As we celebrate the first anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, it is important for Nigerians to sustain their support for the ongoing reforms across the board.
“The country has a bright future but all hands must be on deck to complement the efforts of the Federal Government in repositioning the country.”
“The Federal Government is working assiduously to fix infrastructure and other projects across the country to improve the living standard of Nigerians. People at the helm of affairs at all levels of government must continually engage the citizenry for sustainable development.”
