Ohanaeze Ndigbo announces Igbo Journalists Association as affiliate member
Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has announced the Igbo Journalists Association (IJA), as an affiliate member of the apex body.
This was disclosed, on Thursday, by the President General, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, when the national executive of the association led by the National Coordinator, Amby Uneze, accompanied by a member of the executive/ the Abia State Coordinator, Charles Ogugbuaja, among others, visited him in his office in Owerri, the state capital.
Iwuanyanwu, said: “I want to tell you that from today, your association, IJA, is an affiliate of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. In our meetings and programmes, your body will be involved in our meetings.”
He continued: “We are building headquarters of Ohanaeze in Enugu. The governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, provided the land. We are grateful to him. I am working towards bringing Igbo to status as industrious people. You people are going to play a part.”
Iwuanyanwu urged the IJA members to cover the activities of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, ensuring that they are published factually.
In his speech, Uneze said: “We the IJA want to warn any journalist of Igbo extraction to stop bastardising the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. Soon, we will devise a method of punishing our colleagues, who ignore this resolution. It is, hereby, resolved that the one and only Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide is led by our father, the Ahaejiagamba of Igboland, Chief E.C. Iwuanyanwu. Therefore, any journalist giving voice or credence to another amorphous body will be blacklisted as agent of destabilisation of Igboland.”
