Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youths set to immortalise Iwuanyanwu
The Youths wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo says efforts are in top gear to ensure that its late President General, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu is immortalised.
Speaking at the inauguration of a 63-man burial committee of the youth wing, President of the youth wing, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezukwu, confirmed this to newsmen in Owerri, Imo State, on Friday
He revealed that activities marking the funeral of the late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu have taken a stronger dimension following the youth’s resolve to give the late elder statesman a befitting funeral.
Okalaezukwu describedIwuanyanwu as an icon of no mean repute, Okpalaezeukwu dismissed as baseless and untenable insinuations in some quarters that Ndigbo traditionally have no kings, stressing that kings existed in Igboland and were highly revered before the advent of white men.
He lauded the late elder statesmanfor his marvellous contributions and services to God and humanity, stating that he not only single-handedly re-positioned the youth wing of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo as currently constituted, but demonstrated irrepressible passion and love for the youths.
“Aha e ji aga mba Ndigbo was passionate for our welfare and he believed so much in us. We, the youth wing, see him as an icon and now that he has joined his ancestors, we are happy that he lived a fulfilled and accomplished life and also handed over before he exited.”
Okpalaezeukwu commended the Southeast Governors’ Forum for setting up a National Planning Committee for his burial, stating that many of the youths who passed through his tutelage are doing well in various fields of human endeavour.
Responding on behalf of the committee, the Chairman, Hon. Chima Obieze, pledged that members would do the needful and work cooperatively with other groups set to accord the late foremost business mogul cum financial magnet a befitting burial.
