Oke-Igbo set for Oluoke's coronation, unveils week-long activities.

The agrarian community of Oke-Igbo in the Ile-Oluji Local Council Area of Ondo State is set for the coronation of the 18th Oluoke following years of legal battles and a protracted vacancy on the ancestral throne.

With the coronation committee central working group unveiling a week-long lineup of activities between April 20 and April 26, 2026, Oba Felix Adeoye Akintoye will be installed as monarch of the kingdom.

The forthcoming event signalled the definitive close to a succession crisis that saw the throne embroiled in judicial controversies for several years.

According to a statement issued by the chairman of the Central Working Group, High Chief Moshood Ogunlowo festivities will kick off with a football competition scheduled to take place at the Okeigbo Grammar School Playing Field.

While disclosing that other activities lined up throughout the week will build momentum toward the grand finale slated for April 25, the coronation committee stated it will be followed by a thanksgiving service on Sunday, 26th April 2026, which will be held at St Luke’s Anglican Church, Okeigbo.

The special guest of honour for the historic occasion is Ondo State Governor, Hon. Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. Dignitaries from across the country, including traditional rulers, government officials, and members of the public, are expected to grace the ceremony,” Ogunlowo stated.

Aiyedatiwa had, in November 2025, presented the instrument of appointment and staff of office to Oba Akintoye as the new Oluoke of Oke-Igbo, charging him to promote peace, unity and development in his domain.

The governor urged the new monarch to see his ascension as a call to service and an opportunity to foster peace and unity in Oke-Igbo.

Also, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, commended the governor’s adherence to due process in the selection of Obas, noting that the Executive Council approved Oba Adeoye’s appointment on 27th October 2025, after verifying its conformity with Oke-Igbo’s customs and traditions.
