A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming Ondo State governorship election, Olusola Oke, yesterday recounted how he escaped from death in an accident four months ago.

Speaking at a special thanksgiving service held in Akure, the state capital, Oke said he was thrown out of the vehicle he was travelling in onto the highway.

He attributed his survival to divine intervention, saying it meant God kept him alive because He is in support of his governorship aspiration.

He said: “The journey I embarked on to the southern part of Ondo State, on Friday, August 25, 2023, was like other ones I made in the past, but it turned out to be a memorable watershed, as I had a very close shave with death.

“In an attempt by my driver to avert running into a reckless driver, he manoeuvred the vehicle very swiftly but reasonably timely, but the dislocated vehicle that we were trying to escape from, hit our vehicle from the rear, forcing it to somersault about three times.

“In the process of this auto gymnastics, I was flung out of the vehicle, leaving my driver, personal assistant and the security detail trapped inside. By the time my driver and others managed to squeeze themselves out of the wreck of the vehicle, I was lying flat in the middle of the road.”

He added: “I want to proclaim the authority of God. I was close to the mortuary. I said I must assemble people to proclaim the goodness of God. He intervened in my life. I will continue service to humanity. God knows I have not concluded my assignment on earth.”

MEANWHILE, a chartered accountant and member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, Bosun Aregbuwa, has declared his interest in the party’s governorship ticket ahead of the 2024 governorship election in the state.

Declaring his interest at the party’s secretariat, yesterday, in Akure, Aregbuwa said he would turn the state economy around through the introduction of technology into all the sectors of the state economy.

According to him, through his foundation, he had begun the project by training youths from Ode-Aye in Okitipupa Council of the state in modern global technological skills that would make them globally compliant.

He said: “I have been in the PDP since inception. I have been attending meetings at my unit, ward, and local government levels. So, I am a dedicated member of our party, and our leaders know me.

“I am here today with the help of our leaders to declare my interest in the governorship ticket of our party, the PDP, come next year.”
