Okowa plotting to assassinate me, Ojougboh alleges

Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa

The raging cold war between Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the former national vice chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, has taken a turn, for the latter has accused Okowa of hatching a plot to assassinate him.

Ojougboh, an erstwhile top member of the defunct Senator Amodu Sheriff faction of the PDP, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), told journalists in his country home at Agbor, Ika South local council of the state that the governor has perfected a plot to eliminate him.

Also in a letter to the Primate of the Anglican Communion, Rev. Nicholas Okoh, which he read out to journalists, the APC chieftain alleged that the decision to eliminate him followed his vehement criticism of the governor over an alleged 2017 blank budget and other issues that border on accountability.

Ojougboh disclosed that the order to eliminate him alongside one Mr. Dada Ijeh, Isaac Ulebor and Emmanuel Ojemeh for speaking the hard truth, was passed to the governor’s henchmen (names with held) whom he said recruit thugs for the governor’s bidding.

“This serves to notify you and Nigerians that, in the event of death by accident, kidnapping, robbery and armed attack on any of the above persons, Okowa should be held responsible. I have decided as a soldier of truth to be on the side of the people,” he wrote, even as he intimated the primate that the decision to intimate him was because Okowa is not only an Anglican, but also his kinsman.

Contacted, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, said Okowa, whom he said is presently on vacation is not deterred by Ojougboh’s vicious allegation, remarking that the new APC member is noted for being a false alarmist.

While urging the public to discountenance Ojougboh’s allegations, Aniagwu said: “The assassination allegation is not true. We don’t have issues with him. People must learn to assess the credibility of the speaker before deciding to believe him or not.”
