• Catholic priest urges children to shun shortcut to success
Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has extended heartfelt greetings to children across the state and the nation in celebration of this year’s Children’s Day, calling on parents and guardians to actively dissuade their wards from being lured into cult groups.
In a goodwill message marking the occasion, Okpebholo described Children’s Day as a moment to reflect on the limitless potential and vibrant spirit of young people, who he referred to as the “true leaders of tomorrow.”
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering an environment where every child can flourish, stressing the importance of quality education, rights protection, and youth empowerment.
Highlighting key policies, the governor noted several measures being implemented to improve the lives of children across the state.
AS the world commemorates Children’s Day, the Assistant Parish Priest, Emmanuel the Saviour Catholic Church, Asaba, Delta State, Anthony Egbunowon, has admonished Nigerian children to shun all social vices, saying there is no shortcut to success in life.
Addressing children from different backgrounds at the Catholic Church yesterday, Egbunowon told them to give maximum respect to their parents and the elderly in society.
The Vice Chairman of the organising committee of the Catholic Children Day, Jacqueline Marshall-Umukoro, urged the government at all levels to celebrate the Nigerian child by prioritising their education and health, at all costs.
