Rufus Olasunkanmi Olaniyan has been sworn in as the new Chairman of Omo Ibile Igbomina Lagos Branch.
Speaking at his inauguration ceremony, Olaniyan, a Kwara State indigene, promised to foster a sense of belonging among the members by introducing a welfare package.
He, who emphasised the importance of teamwork and reconciliation, promised to execute projects that promote unity and progress among Igbomina indigenes in Lagos State.
Olaniyan commended Kwara State Governor for his commitment to infrastructural development, particularly the repair of Orun Road and the ongoing Smart City project. He encouraged the governor to continue fulfilling electoral promises, ensuring transparency and sincerity.
“I feel so high and elated. Being the leader of this kind of group is not easy, but I know that with experience and God’s guidance, I will succeed.”
Olaniyan acknowledged the importance of the Igbomina people in Nigeria, particularly in Kwara State, where they play a significant role in politics. “When you talk about Igbomina in Nigeria, you know you cannot do without them. Most politicians seeking public office must have a strong connection with our people.”
He assured that the Igbomina people are ready to follow leaders who have their best interests at heart.
In his remarks, the immediate past Chairman, John Olabisi, expressed gratitude to the Almighty for the successful completion of his four-year tenure.
He stressed the need for other natives of Igbomina from overseas to come home and ensure that their children know their roots.
