The Old Students Association of CAC Grammar School, Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State, has advised other alumni associations in the state to join hands with the state to stem the spread of COVID-19.

The Old Students Association of CAC Grammar School, Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State, has advised other alumni associations in the state to join hands with the state to stem the spread of COVID-19.

President of the association, Comrade Samuel Agbetuyi, said this at CAPOSTO, Efon Alaaye, during the presentation of some COVID-19 preventive materials to the school as the state government reopened schools for SS3 students.

Agbetuyi, who commended Governor Kayode Fayemi for the various measures put in place to contain the community spread of the virus, explained that the gesture became imperative to support the government in its fight against the pandemic.

Some of the materials donated were four Veronica buckets, face masks for students and 50 surgical nose masks for teachers, dozens of sanitisers, two Infrared thermometers and a pack of herbicides.

The president, on behalf of the association, also made a cash donation of N55,000 to the principal, Chief Bakare Abdul, for clearing of weed and spraying of bushes along pathways in the school.

One of the alumni, Mrs Kofoworola Adeyemi, noted that the donation was one of the ways of giving back to their alma mater and appealed to students to use the materials judiciously.

Another member of the association, Chief Joel Omoniyi, enumerated the various coronavirus precautionary measures and why it was necessary to adhere strictly to the protocols.

In his response, Chief Bakare Abdul thanked members of the association for their support, which he said would complement the state government’s efforts at mitigating the scourge of the pandemic. He promised to ensure proper usage of the materials donated, adding that adequate punitive measures would be meted out on erring students.
