Old students say no fees will be charged at Government College Ibadan

The Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association (GCIOBA) has said that the proposed transfer of the running of the school to it will not affect the free education policy of Oyo State Government.

The association, in a statement signed by its Vice President, Mr. Tola Obembe yesterday, said highlights of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) GCIOBA signed with the state government included retaining the free education policies, which states very clearly that no tuition fees will be paid by the students of the school.

They also agreed that the Governing Board of the school, which will be responsible for the administration of the school, will include representatives of Oyo State Government and the Parents Teachers Association (PTA).

It also states that the Old Boys will continue to develop the infrastructure of the school on which they have already spent over N2 billion and will also improve the teaching methods of the school and train members of staff to actualise the objectives of enhancing the quality of teaching.
