Member representing Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Olotu, has expressed appreciation to members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), party faithful, and residents of Ojokoro for their support and turnout during the party’s primary election held midweek.
Olotu described his emergence as the APC candidate for Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency II as a collective victory and a reflection of the unity and democratic spirit within the party.
He thanked party members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged continued commitment to grassroots development, quality representation, and the advancement of the constituency.
The lawmaker also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for promoting internal democracy and transparency during the primary process.
According to him, Tinubu’s insistence that every valid vote should count strengthened confidence in the credibility of the exercise. He said the President’s commitment to fairness and democratic values had reinforced trust among party faithful.
Olotu further called on APC members, delegates, and supporters to come out in large numbers on Saturday to support President Tinubu during the party’s presidential primary.
He said sustained support for the President would help consolidate the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda and accelerate national development.
Commenting on the conduct of the primary election, Olotu explained that the exercise was held across five wards, while voting in two wards was declared inconclusive following disruptions.
According to him, the election in Ward G was cancelled after the number of votes cast reportedly exceeded the number of accredited voters.
He added that the process in Ward H was disrupted by alleged political interference despite the presence of electoral officials, leading authorities to declare the exercise inconclusive in the affected areas.
He added that despite the disruptions, voting was successfully conducted in other wards.
In Ward I(E), Olotu polled 513 votes against Makinde’s 303 votes, while in Ward J(F), he secured 241 votes as Makinde recorded 333 votes.
In Ward K, Olotu garnered 685 votes against Makinde’s 650 votes.
At the end of the exercise, Olotu secured a total of 1,440 votes, while Makinde polled 1,286 votes, confirming Olotu as the APC candidate for Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency II in the forthcoming Lagos State House of Assembly election.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the ideals of the APC, stressing that the party remains anchored on justice, fairness, and internal democracy.
