Olubadan meets Igboho, promises intervention over his travails

OPC leader slams Tinubu over silence on killings in Kwara, demands urgent action
Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, yesterday, held a closed-door meeting with the Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, at his Bodija residence, promising to intervene over his (Igboho) travails.

This was contained in a statement, yesterday, by Igboho’s media office.

According to the statement, “the meeting, held on Monday, lasted for about 40 minutes and issues, ranging from insecurity in the South-West and the emerging threats by bandits in parts of Kwara State, were discussed.”

Also, a source hinted that Oba Ladoja also promised to intervene on the current travails faced by Igboho regarding his declaration as a wanted person by the Federal Government and the embargo on his bank accounts.

However, Igboho, who congratulated Oba Ladoja on his ascension to the throne, described him as “a leader deeply loved by people across Ibadanland, Yorubaland, and beyond.”

He expressed his readiness to collaborate with the Federal Government to ensure effective security of the South-West region, noting that without peace and a secure environment, no meaningful development can thrive.

Meanwhile, a national leader of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Adesina Akinpelu, yesterday, criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for failing to address the rising insecurity and violent attacks against Yoruba communities in North Central Nigeria, particularly Kwara South, during his national broadcast to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.

Akinpelu described the speech as “insensitive and incomplete,” lamenting that the growing invasion of Yoruba villages by armed Fulani bandits in Kwara South was conspicuously ignored.
