Oluwo hooks Kano Princess in low key ceremony

The Oluwo of Iwo land, Osun State, Oba Adewale Abdulrasheed Akanbi, yesterday, tied the knot with his heartthrob, Princess Firdauz Abdullahi, a grand daughter of the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero.

The wedding fathia was held at the bride’s family residence, ‘Gidan Madakin Kano’, Yola quarters, in the absence of Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero.

The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, who represented the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osibanjo, led the bride delegations.

Presenting the one million naira cash dowry for the bride, an Iwo chief, Babalaje of Iwo land, Alhaji Ismail Kudaisi, who served as the groom’s trustee, pledged commitment and consent of the Iwo monarch to marry the Kano princess with love and affection.

The representative of the groom said one of the purposes of the marriage is an aspiration towards achieving a united Nigeria.

Receiving the dowry on behalf of the bride, former clerk of Kano State House of Assembly and uncle to the bride, Alhaji Mahmoud Sani, who pronounced the acceptance of the groom’s proposal, blessed the union.

He said the concept of marriage in Islam symbolises trust, urging the groom to build his home with the fear of the almighty God and ensure proper care of the bride.

Oba Abdulrasheed’s new marital affairs came three years after he divorced his Jamaican wife.
