Oluwo of Iwo Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi Saturday laughed off his suspension by Osun State Traditional Council, describing it as an “audio” suspension.

“You can see I am still in the palace, this is the palace of Oluwo of Iwo land,” Akanbi said in a video posted to social media.

“There was no suspension, there is no suspension, the suspension of all those councils of obas is audio.”

The Osun State Traditional Rulers’ Council on Friday suspended the Akanbi, for six months for allegedly assaulting a fellow monarch, Oba Dhikrulahi Akinropo of Ogbagba.

The council also constituted a committee headed by Orangun of Ila, Oba Wahab Adedotun, to further investigate the tussle involving Oluwo and Obas in Iwo land.

The royal fathers at their emergency meeting held at the Osun State Government Secretariat, Abeere, presided over by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, arrived at the decision to suspend Oba Akanbi.

Oba Akanbi however, said the suspension has no effect on his role as a king.

The king also denied assaulting his counterpart, he said the government officials and Acting inspector general of police have cleared his name.
