Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, is expected to headline the 31st Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) Engineering Assembly from August 7 to 9, 2023 at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja.
The senator, who was the National Secretary of All Progressives Congress (APC), will speak on the theme of this year’s assembly, ‘Entrenching and Strengthening Engineering Practitioners’ Code of Conduct for Resilient Engineering Practice in Nigeria’.
In a letter of invitation signed by the President of COREN, Sadiq Abubakar, the former deputy governor was described as an ambassador of the engineering profession.
“You shall be required to give a short speech on the conference theme at the opening ceremony. The council appreciates the good work Your Excellency has done as Ambassador of Engineering. While serving as senator at the National Assembly, and when serving as the APC’s National Secretary, you have served the nation meritoriously. You have delivered a lot in various capacities, especially in the provision of basic infrastructure for the generality of the people of Nigeria.”
“We will be glad to tap from your wealth of experience as an entrepreneur engineer, who has done so much in consultancy for private and public sector organisations across Africa,” he stated.
According to the president, attendance of the conference is mandatory for all engineers, engineering technologists, engineering technicians, craftsmen, consulting firms and contracting firms.
“Attendance of Engineering Assembly is a statutory requirement to satisfy the mandatory requirement for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to remain a chartered practitioner that will be on the register of COREN,” said Abubakar.
