The Ondo State government has asked the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC) to remedy the ‘misinformation’ regarding the bailout it received to offset part of workers’ salaries.

In a statement yesterday, the Commissioner for Information, Kayode Akinmade, described the report as misleading, stating the state government augmented the loan by N50 million to defray outstanding pay arrears till June last year.

Government said the bailout fund it collected was N9.443.06 billion plus the N50 million it added, bringing the total disbursement to N9.493.91 billion.

According to Akinmade, all relevant documents and bank transfers on the funds were presented to ICPC officials who came to monitor the disbursement of the fund.

“Each claim of payment was investigated and confirmed to be true by the ICPC investigating team and at the end of its visit, the government was commended for its effective operation, clinical and accurate disbursement of the said fund,” he added.
