Ondo communities bemoan 5-year power outage
Residents of some communities in Ondo State that included Irele, Ajagba, Akotogbo, Igbotu and Kiribo, have lamented the none supply of electricity to their communities in the last five years. They therefore called on the Ondo State Government to intervene in ensuring that their communities begin to enjoy power supply again.
According to the residents, the communities used to get supplied electricity twice a week, but it has been total blackout in the last five years.
Iroyinayo Iwayemi, a resident of Ajagba, Irele LGA, said achievement among the people has moved from the number of vehicles or land each family can afford to the number of generators.
An auto spare part seller, Okechkwu, said August 2013 was the last time Ajagba residents enjoyed electricity through the national grid. “The government should please come to our aid,” he pleaded.
For Alara, a commercial driver in Ore, many residents are going through tough times, which he blamed on lack of good leadership.
“We lack everything that make a place part of governed area. Ore as a place that has contributed so much to the economy of Ondo State should not suffer this level of neglect. We have electricity three or five times a month.”
