Ondo polls: NYDC passes votes of confidence on INEC Chairman

The Niger Delta Youth Congress (NDYC) has declared its support for the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, amid recent allegations of being biased.
The group views these accusations as baseless and aimed at undermining INEC’s credibility.
In a statement, NDYC National Coordinator Comrade Israel Uwejeyan commended Professor Yakubu’s commitment to transparency and efficiency.
The congress expressed concern that the timing of these allegations, ahead of the Ondo State elections, seeks to cast doubt over the electoral process.
The NDYC urges Nigerians to disregard the claims and support INEC’s mission, ensuring transparency and peaceful elections. They also called on Nigerian youth to remain vigilant against misinformation.
The group reaffirmed its confidence in Professor Yakubu’s leadership, encouraging him to continue his work unwaveringly.
“We commend Professor Yakubu for his unwavering commitment to steering INEC with integrity, professionalism, and a clear vision for transparency and efficiency,” said Comrade Uwejeyan.
The NDYC views the allegations as a calculated move to sow discord and cast a shadow of doubt over the electoral process, distracting both INEC and the public from the critical task of conducting free and fair elections.
The congress appealed to Nigerian youth, as key stakeholders in the future of democracy, to resist any efforts to derail or distort democratic processes through misinformation and divisive tactics.
