One killed, many injured at burial ceremony

One person died and several others got injured, when pandemonium broke out, yesterday, as one of the mourners, Daniel Chukwu, shot severally at one Ngozi Eze and other mourners at the burial ceremony of Madam Joyce Nworiuzo.

It was gathered that, while Eze died on the spot, following gunshot wounds she received, the chief mourner, Hawaya Nworiuzo, whose mother was being buried, is recuperating in the hospital, following wounds he received from gunshots.

Trouble was said to have started, when Chukwu stormed the burial ceremony arena with a loaded single barrel locally made gun and took his seat among other mourners.

Confirming the tragic incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Enugu State, Ebere Amaraizu, said investigation had commenced, disclosing that the suspect had been arrested and would assist the command in getting to the root of the matter.
