The situation of Adamawa state health workers worsened yesterday, as the commissioner for health in the state, Dr. Fatima Atiku Abubakar disclosed that one or two months Federal allocation to the state cannot pay one month salary of the health workers.

Atiku, who spoke at a press conference in Yola during the UNICEF workshop on nutrition, accused journalists of over probing into the activities of the present administration, saying that allocation has dropped significantly and there was nothing government could do to meet up salary payments.

She added that the crisis of salaries payment was not restricted to Adamawa alone, and that the economic problems in the country have affected all the sectors in the state.

Abubakar, who is also the daughter of the former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, became extremely angry when she was asked why the health workers haven’t been paid for three months while the governor was spending billions of naira on unneeded rehabilitation of streets in the state capital.

Responding angrily, she said, “You journalists are always attacking us. You people are antagonists and are always looking for where we have little issues.
