Ooni assumes headship of Osun Obas’ council

OONI-ogunwusiOONI of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi yesterday assumed chairmanship of Osun State Council of Obas as the monarch attended the monthly meeting of the traditional rulers in the state for the first time.

There had been controversy over who would lead the Obas in the state following the emergence of Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, as chairman after the demise of the late Ooni  Okunade Sijuade,Olubuse 11 who was the permanent chairman of the council  since the creation of Osun state.

The Guardian learnt yesterday from the main hall of Centre for Black Culture and International Understanding {CBCIU}, Osogbo, the venue of the meeting that traditional rulers and others at the venue were all apprehensive when Owa Obokun of Ijeshaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran was about to commence the meeting when Ooni had not arrived.

“Owa had already occupied the seat meant for the chairman and this heightened the tension because everyone present knew Ooni Ogunwusi was coming to the meeting.

“When the Ooni arrived, the atmosphere changed. His aides brought a
personal white chair for him. That really made him special and his comportment was royal and unmatched.”
