The Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) has urged the six South-West governors to treat as a security emergency the building up of camps inside Yoruba forests by insurgents and terrorists fleeing the North.

The Fredrick Faseun faction of the group however offered to help security agencies tackle the danger if given the opportunity. In a statement signed by president of the group, Otunba Wasiu Afolabi, asked that Yoruba leaders should be vigilant since the terrorists have always boasted that after conquering the North, the South will be next.

He said: “Now it is happening. But OPC is ready to let these evil dreamers know that Yorubaland can never be conquered or occupied by foreign invaders. Let the six governors of Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Ondo and Ekiti states take proactive steps. Invite us to deal with this menace today before it is too late.

“We have the men and capacity to confront these foreign invaders physically, militantly, technologically and spiritually.”

All we are demanding from South-West governors is the necessary invitation, equipment and support to do what needs to be done to wipe out this menace of foreign criminals.”

Afolabi spoke in reaction to the alarm recently raised by Governor Seyi Makinde that bandits and terrorists escaping from military bombardment in the North were finding their way to the South-West, and were equally building camps in the forests therein.

IN a similar vein, the Amotekun Corps, Osun State chapter has assured residents of adequate protection, insisting that the criminals would not have any place to operate in the state.

The Corps Commander, Adekunle Omoyele, gave the assurance in a statement yesterday, adding that the safety of the people remains the corps’ top priority.
Omoyele, in the statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the corps, Yusuf Abass, emphatically reaffirmed the corps’ unwavering commitment to ensuring that Osun remains secure from criminal elements seeking to wreak havoc on the state.

“We are sending a clear and unambiguous message to all criminals: Osun is not a sanctuary for bandits, kidnappers, or any group intending to disrupt the peace and security of our people.

“We will not tolerate the presence of these lawless elements in our midst. Our men are fully deployed, vigilant, and ready to combat any threats with the utmost force,” he warned.
