Oshiomhole, Ize-Iyamu, others join Tinubu’s visit to Benin monarch
Former governor of Lagos State and national leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, on Saturday visited Edo State to seek the support of delegates ahead of the presidential primary of the party.
Tinubu told newsmen the visit was to solicit the support of leaders and delegates ahead of the party’s primary election. He also said he visited the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, to seek his royal blessings and to inform the Benin monarch of his Presidential ambition to contest the 2023 election.
In his response, the Benin monarch wished him well and prayed for him to be successful in his political aspirations, saying the traditional institutions were apolitical.
Tinubu was accompanied by former national chairman of the APC and ex-governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole; Osagie Ize-Iyamu; former deputy governor of the state, Pius Odubu; state Secretary of the APC, Lawrence Okah, and former minority whip, House of Reps, Samson Osagie.
