EDO State governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has vowed to work for the success of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Timipre Sylva in the December 5 election in Bayelsa State.

Oshiomhole spoke yesterday in Abuja while presiding over the second meeting of the APC Campaign Council for the poll which held at the Sokoto Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro.

The reassurance may have been informed by the rife speculations that the governor had opted out of the campaign to install Sylva as the duo had had an altercation over the party’s primary which he chaired.

A group, Ijaw Elders Forum, seemingly in support of the state governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Seriake Dickson, had recently congratulated Oshiomhole for rejecting the chairmanship of the platform to deliver Sylva.

But Oshiomhole, who is the chairman of the campaign council instituted by the national leadership of the APC, said the poll was significant to the party, adding that his absence from the council’s inauguration and its inaugural meeting was due to communication challenges.

Oshiomhole, who spoke to reporters shortly after presiding over a brief session of the campaign, commended the party for putting together a team of committed party men and women to deliver the governorship candidate.

“I would have been here for the inauguration as well as the first meeting of the campaign council but for communication challenges. I did not get the information on time.

“But the truth is that every party man has a duty to project the APC, the governorship candidate and our manifestoes to the people of Bayelsa State as we go in for the election.

“This election is very crucial to us and all legitimate means allowed within the ambit of the law will be explored to ensure that we win. It is very significant to us as a party.

“I have just presided over the meeting of the campaign council and the need to reconcile all stakeholders ahead of the election was reiterated because we need cooperation to get to the Bayelsa Government House.

“We have resolved that all stakeholders should work together in spite of whatever may have happened during the governorship primary in the state and we are committed to this in order to effect a change in Bayelsa through one man, one vote,” he stated.
