Osinbajo to represent Nigeria in Burkina Faso
VICE President Yemi Osinbajo will represent President Muhammadu Buhari today at the inauguration of a new and democratically elected president of Burkina Faso, Mr. Roch Marc Christian Kaboré.
Kaboré emerged last month after general elections in the West African nation.
Earlier in September this year, an extraordinary session of ECOWAS leaders presided over by President Buhari in Abuja had called for the restoration of civil rule and supported the progress of the political transition. This culminated in the November presidential and parliamentary elections in the country.
The Vice President represented President Buhari at the follow-up meeting of select ECOWAS leaders in the nation’s capital city- Ouagadougou. That meeting contributed to the termination of the military coup and restoration of Burkina Faso’s democratic transition.
