Osoba, Bonuola others honoured at Idowu Sobowale Int’l conference

FORMER governor of Ogun State, Chief Segun Osoba, The Guardian’s Executive Consultant, Lade Bonuola and others were among the distinguished recipients of honours bestowed on them during the Third Idowu Sobowale International Conference, 2015 which took place at Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State yesterday.

Segun-OsobaFORMER governor of Ogun State, Chief Segun soba, The Guardian’s Executive Consultant, Lade Bonuola and others were among the distinguished recipients of honours bestowed on them during the Third Idowu Sobowale International Conference, 2015 which took place at Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State yesterday.

Speaking during the event, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Charles Ayo who spoke briefly on the theme of the event: “Globalisation, Media Entertainment and National Development” said that globalization is on the side of who the cap fits.

“Why are the Asians coming to take over our jobs? We should, on the platform of Information Communication Technology(ICT) be able to create a niche for ourselves through our creativity.
Look at what Google and all of that are doing. Catch a dream and have a vision for yourself.”

He urged people to create something they can sell on the net even if not for more than 50 cents.

“I appreciate the organisers and when next we gather here , hope that the impact of this programme would have been felt as new entrepreneurs of global dimension that will contribute to national development would have emerged.”

Dr Olusola Oyewo, who was one of the organisers of the event thanked the university for being very receptive.

“As the VC said, if they were told to hold the conference again and again, the university would be ready.”

Speaking on behalf of the others who were similary honoured, The Guardian Editorial Consultant , Lade Bonuola who received an award for his contributions to Mass Communication in Nigeria said: “I felt greatly honoured when I was informed of the award. I want you to know that the entire universe is your platform. There are posters, notice boards here and there. You have a lot to do, if you are diligent and observant mass communicator.”
