Osun ex-deputy governor, Haastrup, joins race for Owa Obokun stool

.Olubadan instals Olagunju, eight others as Mogajis
A former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Adesuyi Haastrup, has joined the race to vie for the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland stool.

Haastrup, who was the deputy to the late Isiaka Adeleke, an elder brother to the incumbent governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, was in office between January 1992 and November 1993, when the Third Republic was aborted.

The former deputy governor, an indigene of Ilesa, has not been visible on Osun political terrain even though insinuations had been rife since the passage of the immediate Owa-Obokun regarding his intention to succeed Oba Aromolaran.

Reacting to his declaration for Owa-Obokun stool, Haastrup simply said: “It is true.”

Relatedly, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has installed Chairman of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Isiaka Abiola Olagunju (SAN), as the Mogaji of Opere Compound, Isale-Osi in Ibadan Southwest Local Council.

The chieftaincy title of Ibadanland was conferred on him alongside other eight personalities from various compounds in Ibadan.

Olagunju, while speaking with journalists shortly after the installation, appreciated the family members for finding him worthy of the chieftaincy title.
The senior lawyer said that the need for individuals to contribute their quota to the development of a community could not be over-emphasised.

He, therefore, called for unity and support of members of his community in a bid to ensure the compound’s name became more notable in Ibadanland through value addition to the community.

In his remarks, a prominent member of Opere Compound, Dr Muhammad-Lawal Musa Alongbija, described Olagunju as his role model in the community, promising to work closely with him to render necessary support.
