Osun LG polls: Electoral body accuses police of arresting officials
The Chairman, Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC), Hashim Abioye, has accused the Nigeria Police Force of arresting staff of the commission who are on election duty across the state.
According to him, he doesn’t know who gave the police the order to arrest the OSIEC staff officiating the local government elections in the state.
Abioye, however, commended the electorates for coming out to exercise their right in the election he described as peaceful.
He said, “It has been very, very smooth and peaceful, except for the false alarm raised by the police. The only thing is that in some of areas, materials have not arrived, and for voters to cast their votes.
“We had report of police arresting our officials. I don’t know on whose order that was made, because there is no court that made any order to other arrests of our official.
