Osun-Oyo boundary: Disputed areas belong to Osun, says Oluwo

Religious body charts part to peaceful resolution
The Paramount Ruler of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale, has refuted the claims by the Olubadan, Oba AkinloyeOlakulehin, that Odo Oba is the boundary between Ibadan and Iwo.

Oba Adewale, in a statement signed by his Press Secretary, Alli Ibraheem, yesterday, described the claim as false, incoherent, a blatant distortion of facts and a deliberate plot to heighten the tension of the original landowners and cause chaos in the affected areas.

Oluwo stated that no one has the right to make such a pronouncement when the matter is before the National Boundary Commission (NBC).

He advised the palace of Olubadan to respect the government, represented by the police and the NBC, and refrain from comments likely to fuel further destruction in the area.

MEANWHILE, perturbed by the perennial communal clashes rocking Ifon, Ilobu and Erin-Osun communities in Osun State, the Council for Islamic Preachers has conveyed a dialogue, where they offered a panacea to end the crisis.

The religious body advocated genuine dialogue among the warring parties, tolerance, involvement of religious stakeholders and scholars, as parts of the panacea to end the scourge.

In a communique issued yesterday after the dialogue, held at Admus Hotel, Ede, Osun State, representatives of the three communities promised do everything in their capacity to bring an end to the crisis.
