The Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has summoned concerned stakeholders in Ife Federal Constituency to address the crisis affecting the zone.
The constituency had issued a communiqué on Monday, wherein a vote of no confidence was passed on highly respected leaders of the party over alleged anti-party activities.
The stakeholders lampooned the state deputy governor, Kola Adewusi, former National Secretary of the PDP, Wale Oladipo and the chairman of Ife East Local Government Area in the state for allegedly hobnobbing with members of the House of Representatives from Ife, Taofeek Ajilesoro, after he defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the ruling PDP.
The stakeholders also alleged that Oladipo mobilised thugs to attack them during the constituency meeting.
Reacting, the state leadership of the PDP directed all members and stakeholders in Ife Federal Constituency to suspend any further actions that could escalate the situation immediately.
“All concerned are hereby instructed to maintain status quo in line with the conflict resolution mechanisms of our party,” a statement issued on Tuesday by the state chairman, Sunday Bisi, disclosed.
Reiterating its respect and high regard for leaders of the party, particularly Kola Adewusi, the deputy governor of Osun State, and Wale Oladipo, member of the PDP Board of Trustees, Bisi said the party leaders remain critical pillars of PDP and “any grievances directed at them must be channelled strictly through the internal conflict resolution mechanisms of the party, not through unilateral pronouncements or public declarations.”
The PDP warned that any action capable of undermining the party’s authority or flouting its rules and procedures will not be tolerated.
“Our party is governed by laws, guidelines, and established processes. Every member is therefore expected to conduct themselves accordingly.
“The party is taking immediate steps, summoning concerned stakeholders to a meeting with a view to resolving all issues as members of the same family,” he said.
Bisi strongly urged all contending forces in Ifeland to sheath their swords and embrace peace in the spirit of unity and discipline expected of them by the people of the state.
