Our anti-bunkering operations have reduced oil theft – Nigerian Army
The anti-bunkering operations of the Nigerian Army in the Niger Delta region have contributed to the recovery of Nigeria’s economy by curbing oil theft and increasing the production output of oil in the region, said Brigadier General Jafaar Ibrahim, the Commander of the 2nd Brigade.
The commander made this statement on Saturday during the West African Social Activities event organised by the 2nd Brigade at the Military Cantonment in Mbiokporo, a community in the Nsit-Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
“Our anti-bunkering operations have reduced oil theft to the barest minimum in the state and boosted national oil production, contributing to improved economic recovery.” said Ibrahim.

The brigadier also noted that the Army’s activities have reduced security threats in Akwa Ibom.
“The continuous conduct of various operations in the brigade’s area of responsibility has drastically decreased security threats and rekindled confidence in Akwa Ibom residents.
Ibrahim also assured the residents of Akwa Ibom that the brigade will continue to collaborate with other security agencies to make the state peaceful and free from security threats.
“The brigade will continue to fulfil its constitutional responsibilities with responsiveness and loyalty enthusiastically. Furthermore, the commitment of the brigade, in collaboration with other security agencies, to make Akwa Ibom State peaceful for law-abiding citizens remains unwavering. Operations such as Delta Safe Joint Task Force South-South (Sector 4) and Thunder have significantly weakened the activities of criminal elements within the state,” Ibrahim added.
